ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings reflect the warmth of spirit and energy animals possess. Each individual is a soulful creature with their own instinctual ways appreciated for whom they are.
The manner in which I capture the head tilt, the sparkle in their eye, or how they pant after chasing the ball, is critical as I like to imply movement in my paintings.
My goal in implying "movement" is to elicit a momentary impression as if entering onto the scene of the portrait for a split second.
When you gaze at one of my paintings, I want you to feel as though you could interact with the subject...as if you may feel that warm moist nose transcend the canvas to touch you.
My portraits are not just another far away, mostly-looks-like-your-pet's image, but rather your pet captured with the proper conceptual elements that create an "aliveness" on canvas.
Mainly a self-taught artist, I studied mixed media at the university graduating with a degree in Psychology. Creativity and drive are my strong suits in addition to marketing and business development. I enjoy volunteering my time and talents to non-profit animal rescue organizations and art associations.

MY INSPIRATION
Otto
Boston Terrier
Otto was my very best friend for 13.5 years. He was a gentleman, well-mannered and easy going to all humans and other animals he made acquaintances with.
Late November 2009 was a sad month in our home as we lost our little love to heart block followed by a stroke. Otto is fondly remembered as a forever cherished member of our family who enjoyed traveling with us. His most notable trip was the last family vacation taken in August where he spent a week at a bed and breakfast enjoying the outdoors and a canoe ride.
Otto could be found close to my side while I created artwork, supervising my every task. He was the most adorable and sweet supervisor I could ever ask for. I am so blessed and thankful to have had him as long as I did. He was a treasure from heaven that I didn't take for granted.
Bless you Otto! Your imprint on my life will remain forever cherished!
